Overview
DAY 1Arrival to Cairo
Welcome to Cairo, Egypt – our representative will assist you through passport control formalities and you will be transferred by a private A/C car to your hotel. Upon arrival at the hotel, your representative will assist you with a smooth check-in and give you a detailed information concerning your pick up times during your 7-day Cairo and Nile River cruise tour. Remainder of day/evening will be at leisure. Overnight in Cairo.
DAY 2Cairo / Giza Pyramids and Egyptian Museum Tour
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked up by your personal expert English speaking tour guide who will accompany you to Giza plateau to visit one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the great pyramids of Cheops, Chefren and Mykerinus, famous Sphinx at the valley temple facing the great statue. Lunch will be served at a good quality local restaurant, then continue to visit the world-renowned Egyptian museum in Cairo. The museum’s vast collection of over 120,000 artefacts ranges from pre-dynastic era, through the Pharaonic era to the Greco-Roman period of Egypt. Amongst the most famous items which you may see are the funerary treasures of the child King Tutankhamun, the colossal statues of the heretic king, Akhenaten, and the only surviving image of Khufu, creator of Egypt’s Great Pyramid. Visiting the Egyptian museum is a great introduction to learning about the ancient Egyptian civilization, including their famous art of mummification. Overnight in Cairo.
DAY 3Cairo to Aswan / Aswan Tour – Nile River Cruise
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to Cairo airport for your flight to Aswan. On arrival in Aswan, you will be met by your tour guide and commence your day of Aswan tours starting with the Aswan High Dam which was built in the 1960’s to provide the much-needed electricity and irrigation for the country. Nubia, the area that was flooded, experienced the biggest and most thorough archaeological excavations that Egypt has ever known. Then we go to see the ‘Unfinished Obelisk’ which still lay in the granite quarries which provided ancient Egypt with building materials. It would have been the largest piece of stone ever handled but when a crack was discovered it was abandoned where it was being hewn. Cross by boat to Angilika Island, to see the Temple of Isis at Philae which is one of the Nubian Temples rescued before the High Dam was built. Enjoy Philae’s long colonnades, towers and reliefs which include the last surviving hieroglyphic and demotic inscriptions in Egypt. You will then embark your Nile River cruise boat with time to explore the city of Aswan. Overnight On-Board Cruise.
DAY 4Nile River Cruise / Visiting Kom Ombo and Edfu Temples
Breakfast will be served on-board, before Sailing to Kom Ombo to visit the Temple shared by two Gods Sobek and Haeroris in Kom Ombo ( the only Temple shared by two Gods in Egypt). Lunch and afternoon tea on board whilst sailing on to edfu. On arrival at Edfu, your tour guide will escort you to Edfu Temple by a Kalesh ride ( horse and carriage) for an exploration of the huge Ptolemaic Temple of Horus at Edfu, which is the most complete and best preserved of the Egyptian Temples, consisting of many columns, halls, chambers and chapels. Two statues of Horus flank the twin-towered entrance gate; and inside, one of the interesting inscriptions lists the titles of books (scrolls) held in the library. Overnight On-Board Cruise.
DAY 5Nile River Cruise / Visits of Luxor, Karnak Temple and the Valley of the Kings
Enjoy your breakfast on board the Nile River cruise while sailing to Luxor. With your arrival to Luxor, you will be guided for a wonderful exploration of the East Bank of the Nile in Luxor to Karnak Temple the world’s largest ancient religious site. The hypostyle hall with its colossal granite columns is one of Egypt’s famous landmarks. There will be free time to explore the different parts of the huge complex built during the reigns of various Pharaohs. Then you will be transferred to the majestic Luxor Temple which built by Amenhotep III and Ramses II for ritual and festivals and dedicated to the God Amun. Following lunch, you will be taken over to the West Bank of Luxor to explore West Bank of the River Nile in Luxor to the Valley of the Kings (the original resting place of the world famous boy King Tutankhamun), and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (the only Female Pharaoh) at El Deir EL Bahari and the two towering statues of the Colossi of Memnon. (The three tombs visited are determined by the Egyptian Government as to preserve them from the large flow of visitors, therefore are rotated throughout the year and cannot be confirmed as to which tombs prior to your visit). Overnight On-Board Cruise.
DAY 6Luxor to Cairo / Free Afternoon
After breakfast and disembarkation, you transferred around midday to Luxor airport for the flight to Cairo. On arrival, you will be transferred back to a hotel in Cairo with the balance of day at leisure to explore Old Cairo area and Khan El-Khalily Bazaar. DAY 7Cairo / Departure
After check-out, we will arrange for the transfer to Cairo Airport as per your flight details.
